Plumbing emergencies we handle around the clock

Most plumbing problems can wait for a weekday appointment. Some cannot. When water is pouring out of a pipe, sewage is coming up a drain or a water heater is leaking near its burner, every hour adds damage to floors, walls and the units below. That is when you need a plumber who actually picks up the phone.

What to do right now, before we arrive

  1. Shut off the water. Close the main valve where the water line enters the house, usually in the garage, basement or a box near the sidewalk. For a single fixture, close the small valve under it.
  2. Turn off the water heater if it is leaking: gas to "pilot" or "off", or the breaker for an electric heater.
  3. Stay away from wet electrical areas. If water is near the panel or outlets, keep people out of that area.
  4. Stop using drains if sewage is backing up. Every flush or shower adds more water to the backup.
  5. Call us at (415) 333-5566 and tell us what you see. We help you triage on the phone and send a plumber.

How our emergency service works

When you call, you talk to our team, not an answering service that takes a message for the morning. We ask a few questions, tell you what to shut off and dispatch a licensed plumber. We aim to have someone at your door within 1 to 2 hours anywhere in San Francisco.

On site, the first job is to stop the damage: isolate the leak, clear the backup or make the water heater safe. Then we explain what failed, what the permanent fix is and what it costs, before any extra work starts. If the permanent repair can wait for a regular appointment, we tell you, so you do not pay emergency rates for work that is not urgent.

Why San Francisco buildings need fast response

Many SF homes are older buildings with original galvanized supply lines and cast iron drains, often stacked over garages or other units. A leak on one floor quickly becomes a ceiling problem on the next. Homes close to the Bay can also see sewer backups when heavy rain and high tides hit at the same time. Speed matters more here than in a newer single-family house.

We have been working on these buildings since 2003, from Victorian flats to commercial spaces, so we know where the shut-off valves usually hide and how these systems tend to fail.

Homes and businesses

We take emergency calls from homeowners, landlords, property managers and businesses. For commercial properties, we work around your opening hours and keep work areas safe for staff and customers.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can you get to my home in an emergency?

We offer 24/7 emergency service throughout San Francisco and aim to have a licensed plumber at your door within 1 to 2 hours. Call us directly at (415) 333-5566 so we can triage the problem on the phone.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

A burst or leaking pipe you cannot stop, sewage coming up through a drain, water near electrical panels or outlets, a gas smell near a water heater, or no water at all. If you are not sure, call and we will tell you honestly if it can wait until morning.

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Shut off the main water valve (usually where the water line enters the house, often in the garage or basement), turn off the water heater, keep people away from wet electrical areas, and stop using drains if sewage is backing up.

Do you charge more at night or on weekends?

Ask us when you call. We give you the price before any work starts, so there are no surprises on the bill.

Do you handle emergencies for commercial buildings?

Yes. We work for homes and businesses, including offices, retail and multi-unit buildings in San Francisco and on the Peninsula.
